Garda Vetting Update 30 August 202

Garda Vetting Update 30 August 202
Early Childhood Ireland Garda Vetting update banner. Police Clearance Certificate.

Welcome to another term and as always, we try and keep our Garda vetting process as efficient as possible so that you can get on to more exciting things.

We are delighted that over 2,500 of Early Childhood Ireland members are using our online Garda Vetting system, and we would like to remind members that we are no longer accepting Garda Vetting applications by post. Any postal application will be returned and will cause further delay to the Garda Vetting application.

Please also remember to input the applicants full address when completing the Garda Vetting web form as incomplete addresses (i.e., no town, city or country listed) will result in the application being delayed.

GNVB number

We would like to remind our members that you must have a GNVB number registered with us (for every setting) in order to access our online Garda vetting process, and we have outlined the process below.

In January 2020 the National Vetting Bureau announced that every Early Learning and Care setting and School Age setting must have their own unique vetting number – a Garda National Vetting Bureau affiliate registration number. This GNVB number is directly linked to the setting address where children attend.

How to apply for a GNVB number:
1. Please email the Garda National Vetting Bureau at gnvb.registration@garda.ie requesting a GNVB Affiliate Registration Number and giving the following information:

  • Name of ELC or SAC setting and the setting address
  • Contact person
  • Contact phone number
  • The nature of your business i.e., ELC or SAC setting
  • Your Early Childhood Ireland Membership Number

*Multiple Services – This process must be completed for each individual membership number as each service needs its own unique GNVB Affiliate Registration Number.

2. The Garda National Vetting Bureau will then post you an application form which you fill in and return to them. If you need help with the application form, call the Early Childhood Ireland Garda Vetting team on 01 405 7102.

3. Once you have completed and sent them back the form, they will then issue you with your GNVB Affiliate Registration Number. This could take up to 2 weeks.

4. When you receive your GNVB Affiliate Registration Number please email us with the front and back pages of the GNVB letter to cdaly@earlychildhoodireland.ie.
